One key point when travelling abroad is to organise your currency well. It’s not just about carrying money, but making sure you have the right currency and the best exchange rate possible.
Before you leave, find out the official currency of the country you’re visiting and whether other currencies like the dollar or euro are accepted. In some tourist destinations, foreign money is commonly accepted, but in others, it can be difficult even to exchange cash.
Ideally, carry some cash exchanged from Venezuela, at least for your first expenses like transport or food upon arrival. You can do this at official exchange bureaus or banks that offer this service. It’s also a good idea to check if your card allows international withdrawals or payments abroad, and verify the exchange rate your bank applies.
Avoid changing money at airports, as they usually have the highest rates. If you need to exchange currency at your destination, look for reliable exchange offices or banks. And very importantly: always carry some backup cash in case cards are not accepted or there are technical problems.
